The Voice of the Industry

CMA members have the opportunity to participate in three policy committees that meet regularly to address key legislative, regulatory, and legal issues and develop coordinated strategies for the industry.

  • This committee monitors legislative and regulatory activities that affect the mining industry and makes policy recommendations to the Board of Directors. Members review pending legislation, coordinate with other committees, provide feedback on key issues, and maintain relationships with state and federal officials to ensure the industry’s voice is heard.

Meets weekly on Mondays during the legislative session (January–May).

Meets monthly every 3rd Monday when not in legislative session.

  • This committee evaluates water quality issues that impact mining and develops CMA’s policy positions for Board approval. Members prepare comments and testimony to support the association’s stance and collaborate with other committees on overlapping areas of concern.

Meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.

  • This committee tracks state and federal legislative and regulatory actions related to coal, hardrock, and uranium mining. Members develop policy recommendations for the Board of Directors and help shape CMA’s positions on issues ranging from permitting to environmental compliance and industry regulation.

Meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
