Committees




CMA Committees


CMA committees are a great way to get involved, build business relationships and make a difference in our industry.

 

The following committees are open to all CMA members. Click the link to view each committee's group page where you can request to join.

 

COAL COMMITTEE

Meets Monthly

The Coal Committee studies and examines issues affecting the coal mining industry and develops and coordinates activities and reviews recommendations of any sub or ad hoc committees as may be created to deal with current coal issues and recommends policies and positions to the Board of Directors for consideration.  The committee develops comments and testimony in support of the Association’s positions and coordinates its coal activities with other committees on issues of mutual concern.

 

HARDROCK COMMITTEE

Meets Monthly

The Hardrock Committee monitors legislative and regulatory activities at the state and federal levels that impact the non-coal mineral resource industry.  The committee is responsible for developing recommendations to the CMA Board of Directors for final approval of CMA positions and policy on regulatory, legislative and legal initiatives impacting the hardrock mining industry.

 

URANIUM COMMITTEE

Meets Monthly

The Uranium Committee monitors legislative and regulatory activities at the state and federal levels that impact the non-coal mineral resource industry.  The committee is responsible for developing recommendations to the CMA Board of Directors for final approval of CMA positions and policy on regulatory, legislative and legal initiatives impacting the uranium mining industry.

 

HEALTH & SAFETY COMMITTEE

Meets Quarterly

The Health & Safety Committee examines and studies mine health and safety issues, develops and recommends policies and positions to the Board of Directors for its consideration.  The committee develops comments and testimony in support of the Association’s positions on health and safety issues.

 

WATER QUALITY COMMITTEE

Meets Monthly

The Water Quality Committee studies and examines water quality issues affecting the mining industry and recommends policies and positions to the Board of Directors for their consideration.  The committee develops comments and testimony in support of the Association’s positions.  The committee also coordinates with other committees on issues of mutual concern.

 

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

Meets weekly during the legislative session (January-May) and as needed at other times.

The Government Affairs Committee monitors legislative and regulatory activities affecting the mining industry and makes policy recommendations to the Board of Directors.  The committee advises other standing committees of pending legislation or rulemaking affecting their sphere of responsibility and consults with those committees on actions to be taken.  In addition, the committee informs the membership of legislation affecting the mineral industry and generates “feedback” in support of or opposition to specific legislation.  The committee also arranges for inter-association cooperation on specific matters, evaluates trends that might have future legislative impact and maintains contact with federal legislative and administrative officials on mineral industry matters.

 

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

Meets as needed.

This committee is responsible for assisting with the recruitment and retention of CMA members. Duties include developing member benefits, making recommendations for changes and/or new benefits as opportunities arise, and participating in membership drives and campaigns.
