Description of Course Coordinator Services
The CMAEF seeks an independent contractor to provide the following services: planning, organizing and producing the Foundation’s three annual workshops for K-12 educators.
Services are expected to be part-time.
Services/outcomes include:
Marketing and promoting the workshops
Maintaining the www.AllAboutMining website in consultation with our outside website professional
Fundraising
Maintaining the Foundation’s LinkedIn page
Arranging educational credit hours to be awarded upon completion of each workshop
Managing payments and keeping track of expenditures
Organizing supplies and giveaways for the in-person workshops (including, for example, hard hats, safety vests and glasses, tote-bags, notebooks, handouts, rock kits, etc.)
Organizing lunches and refreshments at the live workshops
Providing other services as may be agreed by the contractor and the CMAEF Board of Directors from time to time
To successfully perform the services, the service provider should have the following skills/experience:
Superior management, marketing, and organizational skills
Superior writing and editing skills
Excellent communication skills
General familiarity with K-12 teaching standards for various subjects.
Prior teaching experience and knowledge of the domestic mining industry and familiarity with mine safety, reclamation, sustainability, costs, etc., while not required, would be beneficial.
About the CMAEF
Established in 1968, the Colorado Mining Association Education Foundation, Inc. (CMAEF) presents annual summer workshops for K-12 teachers.
Our two-day, in-person “All About Mining” workshops take place each summer based out of Golden, CO and Leadville, CO. Both workshops feature a combination of classroom activities and field trips. A third course, “Mining for a STEAM Education”, consists of online, self-guided learning modules, in combination with several live online class discussion sessions.
All courses are designed to provide educators with a general overview of the phases of the modern mining industry and an understanding of the critically important role that modern mining plays in our daily lives. In addition, the content emphasizes the modern mining industry’s very high safety and environmental practice standards.
Compensation: $40-$50/hr; independent contractors are not eligible for benefits.
