Nov 2014. EVA-Energy Market Impacts of Recent Federal Regulations on the Electric Power Sector

This morning, Energy Ventures Analysis (EVA) released an analysis of the cumulative impact of EPA’s proposed greenhouse gas regulations (a/k/a the Clean Power Plan) on top of other on-the-books power plant regulations (like MATS and regional haze) and other market forces. The numbers are large: double-digit electricity price increases; annual gas and power costs would be $173 billion higher in 2020 than 2012; and an outsized impact on the U.S. industrial sector.

The EVA study released today builds upon prior economic analyses of EPA’s Clean Power Plan by showing the combined economic impact of the Clean Power Plan on top of other policies and market forces between 2012 and 2020.
