Hundreds of miners and supporters of affordable energy rallied at the Colorado State Capitol Wednesday, October 30, to protest the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed rules for new coal power plants, which would effectively prohibit new power plants employing “best in class” technologies for reducing emissions by mandating carbon capture and sequestration. The Colorado Mining Association, several state mining associations, the Independence Institute, Friends of Coal and others organized the day’s events. And coal supporters appeared to outnumber the opponents at EPA listening sessions held earlier that day. Copies of CMA’s news releases, and photos from the rally follow.
