Mining Issues - Right to Know (TRI)The Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) was
established as a part of the Emergency Planning and
Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) of 1986. The initial
purpose of the program was for chemical manufacturing
facilities to report “releases” of certain listed substances
to the air, land and/or water on an annual basis to the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The annual reporting
of releases is accomplished with the submittal of Form R’s
to the EPA by those facilities in the TRI program.
