Mine Rescue Handbook

This new handbook is meant to strengthen the industry's mine rescue efforts. The National Mining Association (NMA) and the Bituminous Coal Operators Association, in conjunction with representatives from the Mine Safety and Health Administration and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, initiated a review of existing mine rescue procedures in the aftermath of last year's underground coal mine disasters. The Colorado Mining Association represents the coal and metals mining industries in Colorado. The members take their safety obligations seriously and strive to provide a safe workplace for mine workers. Many of our companies have received awards from either the Mine Safety and Health Administration or the State of Colorado for outstanding safety practices. Two operations have received the nation's highest safety honor, the Sentinels of Safety Award by MSHA.
