The Colorado Mining Association (CMA) is the oldest and one of the most effective mining trade associations in the United States. Founded in 1876, the year that Colorado achieved statehood, CMA celebrates more than a century of service to the mineral resource industry in Colorado and throughout the region. As the voice of mining, CMA promotes the mining industry’s interests before governmental agencies and the general public, and we further work to provide opportunities for professional growth and business development for our members.

Our membership includes more than 800 persons and organizations engaged in mineral exploration and development, as well as those who provide services to the mining industry, including equipment manufacturers, bankers, law, consulting, engineering and accounting firms, just to name a few.

How Can I or My Company Benefit?

In the battle for survival in the minerals business today, you need a strong, alert, and dedicated ally. Companies rely heavily on trade associations to keep them informed of legislative and regulatory developments that affect their interests. CMA employs a dedicated and resourceful staff who work with state and federal governments to protect the interests of our members. We have doubled our governmental relations staff and have a 95% success ratio on legislative and regulatory issues in Colorado.

CMA focuses not just on state issues, but on national and global matters as well. Global climate change, Mining Law, and federal coal and hardrock mining regulations are but a few of the issues that CMA covers. We report on a regular basis to our members on developments that impact the mining industry, allowing you and your company to become better informed. CMA is also your advocate before state and federal governmental agencies and the Congress. We also work to educate the public about mining through the Colorado Mining Association’s Education Foundation, and through active interaction with the local and even national news media.

Networking Opportunities

CMA membership affords you the opportunity to network with other natural resource and business professionals through our acclaimed National Western Mining Conference, Annual Membership Meeting, and through membership forums held periodically throughout the year. These forums provide opportunities for vendors and suppliers to interact with mining companies, to promote joint business opportunities and political strategies, as well as to obtain key information on business, political, economic and legal developments affecting the mining industry.

Small Donor Committee

The Colorado Mining Association is pleased to announce the formation of the CMA Small Donor Committee. Now individual members of CMA and those who support a healthy, viable and thriving mining industry may contribute a maximum of $50 per person to this fund (no corporate or PAC contributions allowed), to be used by the industry to support political candidates in important races across the state. This is your opportunity to pool your contributions with those of your friends and colleagues in the mining industry so that elected leaders and candidates for public office will hear the industry’s voice and know our views on the issues.
